What Is An Electrical Installation Condition Report

After the electrical safety tests have been performed and measurements have been recorded, the electrician will create a written report which strictly conforms with and is governed by The Electrical Safety Council. This legal document is referred to as the Electrical Installation Condition Report (often abbreviated to EICR) and It measures the electrical installation in compliance with BS7671 which is the British Standard for all electrical installations within the UK.

The electrician will issue the EICR to the customer, detailing any observed damage, deterioration, defects, dangerous conditions and any non-compliances with the present-day safety standard that might give rise to danger.

The overall condition of the electrical installation will be declared as 'unsatisfactory', meaning that remedial action is required without delay to remove the risks to safety of those in the premises when anything dangerous or potentially dangerous has been identified during the inspection and testing process.

All of those findings will be fully documented in the Electrical Installation Condition Report.
